TransAkron is a visual storytelling project created by photographer, Shane Wynn and writer, H.L. Comeriato in collaboration with the Akron Community Foundation's Gay Community Endowment Fund.
The project is designed to spotlight the narratives of trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people living in the Akron area, and combines portraiture, empirical data, and interview-based material in an effort to spark complex discussions about gender and personal identity.
TransAkron profiles eight individuals of differing ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations, religions, genders, and abilities.
It is pointedly intersectional, and also functions as an interactive, educational, online resource.
